Underway as before pursuant to operations order Onwent, Uncle 3. Commander Guillot in  this ship O. T. C. of convoy consisting of LST’s 282, 230, 47, 48, and 281. Escorts - Destroyers  Fitch and Corry and 2 ATR’s, approaching transport area, course making good 201, speed 2/3.

Buoy #15 abeam to port.

0047 

Maneuvering on various courses to stay in swept channel.

0108 

Buoy #18 abeam to port.

0130 

Using engines to stay in channel, very little headway on, waiting for transports.

0202 

Sounded condition Tare.

0211 

Power on six davits, bow and stern anchor. Maneuvering on various courses and speeds  to anchorage in transport area.

0242 

Let go port bow anchor. Turned on blue stern light; sounded one blast; lowered away all small boats.

0246 

Boats 1,5 and 4 shoved off. #2 wouldn’t start; secured blue stern light. Anchored approximately  22,000 yards N. E. of Mageliene Sands, English Channel, France with 60 fathoms of chain at the capstan to port bow anchor.

Boats 3 and 6 shoved off.

Secured from I Tare, set condition II, port section

Secured main engines but advised keeping them warmed up for ready use.

Hoisted LCVP #2. Relieved of deck.

Hoisted 2 LCVP’s off RHF 21 on davits 3 and 5.

Lowered 2 LCVP’s from davits.

Power on bow doors, ramp and elevator.

LCT 2135 alongside port to refuel. Small craft off starboard hand with information that  our small boat #5 had been swamped but troops had been put on the beach and crew including Lt. (jg) KUCEY rescued.

Started pumping fuel to LCT 2135 (British).

Small boat returned and is standing to assist Rhino in marrying LST 282. Completed refueling LCT 2135 - 3,775 gallons. LCT 2135 shoved off.

LCVP #1 alongside to starboard.

0959 

Started hoisting boat on #5 davit. Rhino barge married to our bow and Army equipment  is being disembarked.

LCVP #3 returned to #1 boat davit.

Hoisted LCVP on #1 boat davit.

Rhino tug cast off from our bow with Army equipment - 20 vehicles.

1045 

Turned on blowers to aft end of tank deck.

1100 

LCT 456 alongside our port - casualty brought aboard.

1107 

LCT 456 cast off. Two LCM’s alongside for hot chow.

1111 

Started lowering vehicles into tank deck by elevator.

LCVP 47-3 alongside to part.

LCVP alongside boat davit #6 with casualties - 18 survisors of LCT 458 which struck mine.

Lowered LCVP #1 from #5 davit - JORDAN, DEGUZMAN, FOY and LARKIN shoved off in it.

1232 

LCVP #2 with Lt. (jg) WAGNER, HAZLINGER, COX, LEAK, Sm3c, JACOBI and DELAP,  returned to davit #5 with 7 casualties.

1243 

LCVP from PA 33 came along to starboard to find out what percent we had unloaded.

1252 

LCI 219 came by port for orders.

1255 

LCT 517 came by starboard for orders.

1257 

LCT 809 on port side for orders.

1259 

LCVP 47-1 cast off after discharging casualties.

1300 

Coast Guard boad cast off after discharging casualties. Started unloading into LCT 811 married to bow.

1307 

LCT 517 along to starboard and discharged. Lt. (jg) KUCEY and boat crew picked up when their boat swamped.

1308 

LCT 809 came along to port and moored.

1311 

LCT 811 shoved off from bow with 18 vehicles.

1320 

LCT 764 came along to starboard then cast off.

1324 

LCT 765 came along to port and moored.

1333 

One officer and 4 enlisted men came aboard for further transfer to reference vessel from LCT 764.

1345 

LCM along to port taking on medical supplies.

1347 

LCVP #20 from PA33 along to starboard and moored outboard of our LCVP at davit #5.

LCT 809 married to bow to disembark Army vehicles and personnel.

1358 

LCVP #20 from PA33 cast off. LCT 809 broke loose.

1402 

LCVP #2 cast off to make way for LCM 61 with casualties. LCVP #3 cast off #1 davit.

LCM 61 moored by davit #5 with 24 casualties.

LCT 809 alongside to port outboard of LCT 765.

1429 

LCT 809 cast off.

LCT 765 cast off. APA 5 got underway.

LCT 809 moored to port.

LCM 61 shoved off.

LCM 101 discharged two casualties.

LCT 2421 alongside - discharged 5 army casualties to this vessel.

LCI (L) 219 tied up along port side.

Commander GUILLOT, Commander Task Unit 125. 5. 2 and Commander LST Flotilla TEN  disembarked from this vessel with staff including Lt. Commander PERRY, Lt. (jg) MORGAN, Lt. (jg) SPENCER, Lt. (jg) FOX, Ens. SCHLEIFER, Ens. STELLINGER, Ens. GALLAGHER and staff of 16 enlisted men.

1805 

USCG 9 came alongside to take on gasoline - took on 100 gallons and shoved off.

1849 

LCT 765 married to bow, took on 10 vehicles and 32 men and shoved off.

1917 

Hoisted LCVP #3 on davit #5.

1943 

LCT 594 married to bow to discharge vehicles.

1945 

Relieved of deck.
